Work-Based Learning
Work-Based Learning, formerly Cooperative Education, is an educational plan that integrates classroom learning with supervised work experience in an employment situation directly related to the education program of a student. A successful WBL program is the result of cooperative efforts between the employer, the college, and the students. Work experience becomes Work-Based Learning when there is cooperation between a college, an employer, and a student concerning work activities that correlate with learning activities. Wayne Community College currently has 16 program areas that include Work-Based Learning experiences within their curriculum.
